Tucson Lindy Hop Society
Dances
Every 4th Saturday of the month for the last 12 years, Armory Park has been the place to dance Lindy Hop. This is a non-smoking, non-drinking, multi-generational dance. One of our oldest dancers, John Wise, is over 80 years old and danced the Lindy Hop in Harlem in the 1940s. He can often be seen on the dance floor twirling two gals at the same time.

No partner is required.  If you are a first time dancer, wear comfortable shoes that will not fall off when doing fast foot
movements.

The schedule of the night is a basic lesson in the Jitterbug taught by Alex and Theresa from 7-8 PM, followed by live music until 11 PM.  The band rotation varies upon availability.  Currently we have Kings of Pleasure, Misbehavin', and a 13-piece big band, Tucson Swings!  Cost varies betw
een $10-$15 depending on the band.  Student and special group discounts are available.

The dance is located at 220 South 5th Ave.
If you have never been there it is a little hard to find.  I recommend arriving by 22nd Street:

Drive on 22nd Street to 4th Avenue.
There will be a Quick Mart and Santa Rita Park on the corners.
Drive north on 4th Ave.
Turn left on 13th Street.
Park anywhere near Safford Middle School and the corners of 13th Street and 5th Ave.
The entrance is on the east side of the building.

Beware of all the kooky one way streets in the map below.
